Commitment of UISG America Constellation 3

Presented in Rome at the 60th Anniversary UISG Plenary Assembly

May 8, 2025

As a Constellation of U.S. congregations, we are painfully aware of the deleterious impact that our nation’s current Administration is having on the entire world, including U.S. citizens and those who seek shelter on our shores. We know that Sisters in other parts of the world have suffered and are living with the effects of similar government abuses that privilege some, dehumanize others and ravage Earth. We humbly seek your help and advice in navigating through these dark times when the clear light of the moon and stars is so needed.

We in UISG are a powerful global sisterhood living in a common home. We desire to grow in awareness of what is happening around the world and to respond in whatever ways we can. We suggest that UISG create a clearinghouse where we could all help and learn from one another regarding pressing needs and the financial and human resources that would be helpful.

As a Constellation, we commit to live synodality in the U.S. church and to exercise our moral voice and authority as women of the Gospel.  Bearers of hope are dangerous to those in power. We commit to exercising that dangerous hope in a prophetic way that transforms.
