Greetings from Boston College!
I have been in my class for 7 days now and it’s super intense!
We are expected to preach everyday so as the professor says “to help build our preaching muscles”! Wow, am I out of shape!
We have had some amazing guest lecturers who have painted a broad picture of what good preaching looks and sounds like. I am very encouraged that I have been able to glean so many new tips on how to create powerful preaching opportunities for our Albertus community.
My classmates have been very supportive of each other, especially in helping each of us to hone our preaching skills. We are all working very hard to create prayerful preaching and to study with the Scriptures before we write anything on paper.
We all have had very Dominican ideas about preaching, such as preaching through the arts, including music and media. Lots of great success!
We will each have an opportunity to preach publicly on our last day of class in the School of Theology and Ministry Chapel for some of the students and professors here on campus.
I’m hoping that all this studying will pay off in helping us to preach well on our last day of this module.
I did manage to visit a few family members while up here in Boston. It was a nice break from my course work. But now it’s back to studying so I can finish my class strong!
I can’t wait to get back to Albertus to share all these wonderful preaching tips with you!
Peace,
Sr. Cathy
Hats off to you!! They are certainly building those preaching muscles!!!
You are inspiring me to get myself “in shape,” maybe not for preaching, but to tell of God’s love and mercy in some way. Go, Sr. Cathy!
I am awe inspired and love the title Sharpening My Preaching Muscles. Are any of these sessions online?
Cathy,
It sounds like you are in Olympic focused training for Holy Preaching. With the All-Powerful inspirations of the Trinity and Holy Scripture you will be able to touch many and make a difference into the future.
