Dominican Sister of Peace Dolores Ann Pfeiffer, OP 

Dominican Sister of Peace Dolores Ann Pfeiffer, OP, (94), a native of Astoria, NY, died on April 10, 2025, at Mohun Health Care Center, Columbus, OH. 
 
Dolores Ann was born to Ella Olesnovich and Edward George Pfeiffer in 1930. She entered religious life in 1955 and spent the last 67 years serving God’s people.  
 
Sr. Dolores earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from the College of St. Rose in Albany, NY; a Master of Arts in Contemporary Theology from St. Mary College; and a Master of Arts in Pastoral Counseling from Loyola College in Baltimore, MD. In addition to her degrees, she also held various professional certifications, including Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and National Board-Certified Counselor. 
 
Sister served in a wide range of ministries across several states. Early in her ministry, she focused on education and religious instruction, serving in roles such as CCD Teacher and English instructor, retreat staff, and Director of Religious Education (DRE) in New York, Pennsylvania, New Mexico, and Maryland. Over time, her work expanded into pastoral care, adult education, and spiritual guidance, with key positions in Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Maryland. 

She also worked in counseling and public service, including roles with the State Office on Aging and as a State Rehabilitation Counselor in Baltimore. For nearly 20 years, she provided spiritual guidance in Philadelphia, followed by her final ministry of prayer and presence at the Columbus Motherhouse and Mohun Health Care Center in Ohio. 

In a letter to the congregation, Sister Pat Twohill remembered Sister Dolores Ann as someone who "used her experience and education to spread God’s loving kindness throughout her many years of ministry."  

Sister Dolores was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Ella Pfeiffer and her brothers Edward and George Pfeiffer. She is survived by nieces and nephews. 
 

Evening prayer and sharing of memories took place on Wednesday, April 23, followed by the Funeral Mass on Thursday, April 24. All services were held at the Columbus Motherhouse Chapel, with burial following at St. Joseph Cemetery.
