We say it all the time - Sisters never retire, they just find new ways to serve. Sr. Shawn Fitzpatrick, former director of the Dominican Learning Center, may be living in Mohun right now, but she continues her active forms of ministry. She continues to tutor learners who come to Mohun, and now, she is expanding another ministry as well!
Sr. Shawn collects pop tabs to recycle. The funds she raises are sent to Sr. Rita Marie Schwarzenberger, OP, and her ministry with Hope for the Village Child in Kaduna, Nigeria, West Africa.
Sr. Shawn has been collecting tabs in her room, but now she has a collection point in the Mohun dining room as well. Staff members have been adding to her collection, helping her raise funds faster! Sr. Josetta Mayer is also a faithful part of her team, helping her create communications, take tabs to the recycling center, and take funds to deposit.
It takes about 1300 tabs to make a pound, so every little bit really does help!
Thanks to our retired Sisters who continue their ministries of service!
Thanks, Shawn and Josetta and all tab givers! Some child is probably getting medicine or a family getting food because you are generous and creative in continuing ministry to the underserved!
Srs. Shawn and Jocetta, you have given and are giving so much to so many. Best of all, you are passing God’s joy on to others. Thank you!
Sisters Josetta and Shawn, thank you for heading up the soda pop tab collection. I’ll continue to add to the collection cups from our area, but it is YOU who complete
this endeavor. Blessings on both of you!
Thank you Sisters Shawn and Jocetta for making a difference in the Globel World. “Give and it shall be given to you, pressed down and running over.”
They never retire and they never quit doing their part to make the world a better place! Blessed to know you both 💜
Thank you Sisters! You continue to be a light that reaches all around the world in your ministry! Blessings!

Amazing, you Dominican sisters just keep on giving, giving and giving. You never give up examining how you can continue to minister even in the last years of your life. You are worthy of emulation.
