Sr. Regina Marie Bruner, OP

Sr. Regina Marie, OP, has been at Sansbury Care Center since 1996 when she came as a computer assistant. She also served there earlier from 1983 to 1988 as a receptionist and office assistant. She was born in Mattoon, IL, on April 30, 1929, to George and Mary Regina Bruner. She entered the Dominican Sisters in 1948 and made profession in 1950. Continue reading →

Sr. Virginia Berak, OP

Dominican Sister of Peace Mary Virginia Berak, OP, died at the age of 92 on Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at the Lourdes Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Waterford, MI. She was born Margaret Berak on August 8, 1922, in Czechoslovakia and was the youngest of four children. Her parents were Joseph and Susan Novak Berak. At the age of five, she and her mother and three siblings, Joseph, Steve and Ann emigrated to Detroit, MI, where her father found employment. Margaret lived with her family until she entered the Dominican Sisters, Congregation of St. Zedislava, in Warren, MI (now Dominican Sisters of Peace) in 1937. Continue reading →

LOUIS, MO – April 12, 2015. The Dominican Sisters of Peace convened their Second General Chapter at the Marriott Hotel in St. Louis, April 6-12, 2015.

The congregation elected new leaders for the term 2015-2021. Sr. Pat Twohill, OP, was elected Prioress, along with Srs. Therese Leckert, OP, Gemma Doll, OP, Gene Poore, OP, and Anne Lythgoe, OP, Councilors. Srs. Therese, Gemma and Gene were elected to a second term.
