St. Paul Must Have Known Some Dominican Associates of Peace!
Blog by Associate Conni Dubick, OPA
“Now you are Christ’s body and individually parts of it. Some people God has designated in the church to be first apostles, second prophets, third teachers; then mighty deeds, then gifts of healing, assistance, administration and varieties of tongues.” – 1 Corinthians 12:27-28
Sitting in church on Sunday and listening to St. Paul’s letter to the Corinthians, I wanted to exclaim out loud that he was describing the Dominican Associates of Peace! But, to say that, there better be evidence to substantiate the claim. Well, all one needs to do is to read the 2014-2015 Associates Call To Mission (click here) to find the proof!
Associates are in mission with the Dominican Sisters of Peace and participate in prayer, study, community and ministry as they seek to preach the Gospel with their lives. This is no easy task since their personal lives are involved with families, work, civic and often times parish/diocesan commitments. In addition, an Associates Leadership Network involves over 60 Associates collaborating with Sisters on the Associates Council, Mentor Teams, Associates Committees and Congregational Committees to provide the organization and implementation of events/projects for the Dominicans of Peace.
Essential to claiming the name of Dominican Associate of Peace is living the reality expressed by the Mission Statement, Chapter Commitments and Corporate Stances of the Sisters (www.oppeace.org). Associates incorporate the Gospel message and Dominican Spirituality as they pray, bless and preach in ways unique to their life circumstances.
After reading the Associates Call To Mission, you will probably want to applaud, cheer and shout out that St. Paul did know Dominican Associates of Peace when he described the gifts of the Spirit!

Connie, can you tell me more about the Associates Leadership Network? There was a lot of talk about a database of ministry opps generally for Associates. I’m glad that this network has come to fruition!
I am interested in any part I could do here in mid Michigan…
Truly, Associates do an amazing job of witnessing to our corporate vision of Peace. And the call to mission illustrates our diverse gifts and their expression so well. Thank you for sharing us with all.
