Sr. Juliana D’Amato
Dominican Sister of Peace Juliana D’Amato, OP (86), died at Mohun Health Care Center, Columbus, OH, on February 20, 2017. She was born in Matrice, in the province of Campobasso, Italy. When she was a young girl, her family moved to Youngstown, OH, where she met prejudice for the first time as a high school student. “Parts in plays, honors at graduation, etc. were not for students with ‘foreign names,’ and there were many of us,” she said.
