Give a Gift of PEACE this Christmas

Members of Rising Youth create holiday food baskets for neighborhood families in need.
“In my neighborhood, I feel and see violence on a daily basis, but at times and only for a few seconds I feel peace.”

These are the words of a Latino teenager living in an immigrant community in Columbus, OH.

Rising Youth, a ministry of the Dominican Sisters of Peace, helps build those “few seconds of peace” into a lifetime of opportunity. Rising Youth provides homework assistance to young people from disadvantaged communities, as well as support to help them to stay away from violence, sex, drugs and other risk factors in their neighborhoods.

Teens who are part of Rising Youth have left street gangs and the drug trade for school sports and other local youth and leadership programs, and the average GPA has risen from 1.1  to 3.5. These teens that were once at risk are now leaders in their community, and they are leading with peace.

When you honor a friend or family member with a donation to the Dominican Sisters of Peace, you help us reach out to youth across the country with hope and peace. With your gift, the recipient will receive a special e-card telling him or her about your gift, and the ministries that you have supported in his or her honor. We will also remember your friend or family member in our daily prayers, and in a special Christmas novena.

Just click here and celebrate your friend or family member with the gift of a peaceful future.
