Mission for Peace Testimonials

Mission Week was an awesome, inspiring experience that gave me a chance to contemplate and realize the Divine Presence in my life and the world around me in new and different ways. It allowed time to think and meditate on my life, where I am, where I might want to be and in what direction I might go.”

Priceless! It was an experience of doing everyday life with an everyday God! What the week really meant to me personally, was more of Jesus’ expression to Simon at the Lake of Gennesaret ‘Cast your net into the deep, and you will find.’ Thanks to the discernment process with the Dominican Sisters of Peace I feel empowered to go into the deep.”

“The Mission for Peace was a time of prayer, study, and action. Surrounded in prayer, I was given space to learn and listen to where God was inviting me to move for peace and justice. The experience was truly an “immersion” into various justice issues as well as into the charism of the Sisters. Reflection, prayer, and learning with others was enjoyable and time extremely well spent.”

“This program is an opportunity to grow in awareness of specific needs in our world and of ways the Church is working to respond. This program provides an opportunity to pray with and discuss these different ideas, that can also be an opportunity to pray and reflect on how God may be equipping and calling you personally.”

“Going into this program with an open heart, mind, and spirit will allow you to recognize the seeds of grace God has planted in your life.”

“The sisters created an online experience for me to become a missionary praying and working for peace from my own home. I did learn a great deal about the work the sisters are doing to create peace in our world. This mission was an amazing experience for me and a wonderful example of the Dominican Order assessing and addressing the needs of the present age. I am grateful to many religious sisters who gave their time to share their mission and vision with me and the other participants.”

“The Mission for Peace virtual immersion program was wonderful! The Vocations team did an excellent job covering topics such as ecology, cosmology, corporate social stance, and ministering to immigrants and marginalized communities. The content the Sisters presented was engaging and informative. I found it helpful to see how the Dominican Sisters of Peace live out peace and respond to the needs of the time. I appreciate the activities in between such as the sand bottle, praying with the labyrinth, researching social justice organizations, or writing cards and making care packages for the homeless. While it was different not being in-person, I was pleasantly surprised of the fruits of the virtual experience. Thanks for offering this opportunity!”
