Sr. M. Suzanne, OP, 80, the former Margaret Ann Repasky, died on March 31, 2015, at Regina Health Center, Richfield, OH. Sr. Suzanne, the daughter of Stephen and Margaret Hartman Repasky, from St. Dominic Parish in Youngstown, entered the Sisters of St. Dominic of Akron, now Dominican Sisters of Peace, on August 15, 1954. She made profession of vows on August 4, 1956. Sr. Suzanne earned her BSE from St. John College, Cleveland and MA from the University of Dayton. She began her teaching career at St. Felicitas, Cleveland. She also taught at St. Hilary and St. Vincent, both in Akron, and SS. Peter & Paul, Doylestown. From 1970 to 1974, she served as principal at St. Joseph & Regina Coeli, Alliance and from 1974 to 1978 was principal at St. Paul, Akron. Sr. Suzanne also taught religion at St. Vincent-St. Mary and mathematics at Archbishop Hoban High Schools both in Akron. She was known as an excellent teacher and related especially well to her male students. Sr. Suzanne began volunteering as a support group facilitator and crisis helpline worker at the Battered Women's Shelter in Akron in 1985. After earning a Master's Degree as a Licensed Social Worker from the University of Akron in 1991, she became a full-time case worker and counselor at the Battered Women's Shelter in Akron spending many hours of individual and group support to victims of domestic violence. She looked upon this new ministry as a calling and became passionate in her service by treating the residents with compassion and respect. Sr. Suzanne made them aware of their value and gifts by challenging them to be the very best they could be. Due to health issues, she retired to the Akron Motherhouse in 2006 and then moved to Regina Health Center on June 2011. She had a great love of University of Notre Dame because her father was a graduate. She and her family attended numerous Notre Dame football games and she could be easily seen wearing her many Notre Dame hats and sweatshirts. Sr. Suzanne is survived by sisters Mary Ellen Gantar and Alberta McFarland and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers Gerard and Stephen. Funeral Services were held at the Akron Motherhouse on April 6 and 7 with Liturgy of Christian Burial and interment followed at Holy Cross Cemetery.
