Dominican Sister of Peace Anaiceta Pitstick, OP, died at Mohun Health Care Center, Columbus, OH, on July 4, 2015. She was born in 1919 in Jamestown, OH, and in 1936 entered the congregation of St. Mary of the Springs, now the Dominican Sisters of Peace. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Pitstick and Lucy Bork Pitstick, and all of her siblings, brothers Jerome, Richard, Robert and her sisters Rose Barmann, Emma Pintz, and Sr. Alma Marie Pitstick, OP. She is survived by many nieces and nephews including Fr. Kevin Kavanagh. Fr. Kevin, serving at St. Brigid Dublin, OH, spoke at her funeral and pointed out that at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in Los Angeles, CA, there are a number of impressive tapestries and all of them have a golden thread running through them. In a similar way, Sr. Aniceta's life is a golden thread running through our lives. Sr. Aniceta was considered a serious person who surprised everyone by dressing up at Halloween and impersonating a black cat - crouching on the floor on all fours and pouncing around. She surprised everyone with her "trick." Sr. Aniceta earned degrees from the College of St. Mary of the Springs, now Ohio Dominican University,  and St. Louis University. She taught in schools in Marietta, OH, and Steubenville, OH, in Michigan and Pennsylvania. In the Columbus diocese she taught in schools in Coshocton, Newark, Lancaster and Zanesville. She also taught in Holy Name and St. Phillip Parishes.  For 11 years she ministered to the elderly at Nazareth Towers and then was a volunteer in the Columbus Motherhouse. After twice surviving cancer and other serious illnesses, Sr. Aniceta was anxious about her final days and frequently said that she was ready to go home to God. She would say, "I am ready to go, I am going to tell God I am ready." And when she survived the night to begin another day, she would retort, "Oh well, whatever the dear Lord wants." Funeral services were held at the Columbus Motherhouse on July 6 and 7. Burial was at St. Joseph Cemetery.
