Peace with Others

Sisters at our Columbus House of Welcome, Sr. Margie, Sr. Ana, Sr. Terri, Sr. Mary, Sr. Phuong, and Sr. Pat, decorated their Christmas tree and created bags of food and care items for the homeless during a recent Central Ohio Snowstorm. #Peacewithothers

We celebrate the Season of Advent with bright candles at our chapel in Great Bend, Kansas.

God, help me find Peace with my neighbors.

The O Antiphons

The Church has been singing the “O” Antiphons since at least the eighth century. They are the antiphons that accompany the Magnificat canticle of Evening Prayer from December 17-23. They are a magnificent theology that uses ancient biblical imagery drawn from the messianic hopes of the Old Testament to proclaim the coming Christ as the fulfillment not only of Old Testament hopes, but present ones as well. Their repeated use of the imperative “Come!” embodies the longing of all for the Divine.

Dominican Associates and women in discernment create Advent Wreathes at our House of Welcome.

The First Sunday of Advent: HOPE

In 2021, we visited the New Haven, CT, House of Welcome on the First Sunday of Advent.

Sisters dedicated their Advent wreath by lighting the Candle of Hope.

The House of Welcome is a residence where women discerning their call to religious life can live in community with Dominican Sisters of Peace. There, they experience our life of prayer, study, service, and community.

The Dominican Sisters of Peace welcome discerners and candidates in Houses of Welcome in Connecticut and Ohio.
