The year 2025 marks the Tenth Anniversary of Laudato Si, Pope Francis’ encyclical on care for our common home, Earth.
While the overarching message of Laudato Si is one of ecology, running through each of the seven themes is also a message of unity. Throughout words of the Holy Father, we are called to work together, to pray together, and to serve one another – all people, our planet, and all the creatures on it – as parts of God’s precious creation.
As we approach the Season of Lent, we enter a time of renewal. It’s a time to look inward and reflect on our own spirituality, to release ourselves from sin, to make an offering to God, and to give from our own abundance to those who need our mercy, as a reflection of God’s mercy toward us. As a Church, we are called to one spirit of repentance, sacrifice and charity as we prepare for the miracle of the resurrection.
The members of our Laudato Si Action Committee have prepared a collection of scriptural and spiritual readings to help you find the grace to enter into this unified spirit. We hope that you can follow along as they take their Lenten journey in the company of prophets, apostles, and people of God throughout the ages.
We wish you a sacred Lenten season, united with people of faith around the world.
The tomb of Christ, who is living,
The glory of Jesus’ resurrection; bright angels attesting,
The shroud and napkin resting. Alleluia!
