Sr. Celeste Albers, Great Bend, KS, learned to love music at an early age from her parents and later from her fourth grade teacher, Sr. Caroline Oeding. In high school, she studied both piano and organ. As an elementary school teacher in Garden City and Larned, KS, she shared her love for music with her students.
In 1981, Sr. Celeste began working as a pastoral minister at St. Patrick’s Parish in Great Bend and from 1984-94 served on a pastoral team in Scott City and Dighton. She ministered at St. Joseph Parish, Wichita, KS from 1995-2003 before returning to Prince of Peace Parish in Great Bend.
Sr. Celeste is currently the liturgist and organist at the Dominican Sisters Motherhouse in Great Bend, KS.
"I have a great desire to help others grow in faith," Sr. Celeste said. "I have walked with many people preparing to enter the church and feel blessed to share the journey with them. I have also worked with many families as they bury loved ones. Pastoral ministry has challenged me to always be ready to help those who are suffering in any way. I love life and I try to find some good in every single person I meet."
