Sr. Jane Belanger, Pawnee Rock, KS, has been a member of the Heartland Farm Community in Pawnee Rock, KS since 2008. For 15 years, she was program director for Shepherd’s Corner Ecology Center in Blacklick, OH, another of the sponsored ministries of the Dominican Sisters of Peace. "In each place I have worked, I sought to respond with my energy and gifts to the world’s needs focused in that locale," Sr. Jane said. "This has led me now to seek the wholeness of the land even as it sustains human wholeness."
Sr. Jane’s first years as a Dominican Sister were spent teaching in elementary schools in Ohio and Illinois, followed by teaching art in high schools in in Ohio and Connecticut. She then moved into retreat ministry at Still Point Retreat House in NY and ARC Ecumenical Retreat Center in MN.
"As a Dominican Sister of Peace, I see peace as both the goal and the method of our mission," Sr. Jane said. "Peace with our beautiful but ravaged Earth is what I hope can radiate from my presence, wherever I am. I would urge any young woman considering religious life today to be attentive to the yearnings of her heart as she meets the needs and yearning of God’s world."
