Sr. Margaret Mary Kennedy recently moved to New Haven, CT, after ministering as Director of Counseling at Caroline Center, Baltimore, MD, for 16 years. "I love enabling others to find their own gifts and to believe that they are capable of achieving their goals," Sr. Margaret Mary said. "In society, women and children have been the most neglected and put down. Helping them to believe in themselves and find their own voice is important to me."
"A turning point in my own life was the first time I sat in counseling with women who were seeking asylum, women who had risked their lives in order to save them. These women had lost everything and yet smiled each day. They gifted me with humility, hope and wisdom."
Sr. Margaret Mary spent her initial years as a Dominican teaching primary grades in Catholic schools in Pennsylvania, New York and Connecticut. After receiving a Master of Arts in Religious Studies from Providence College, Providence, RI, she taught and did religious education in New York and Connecticut. In 2001, she received a Master of Science in Clinical Pastoral Counseling at Loyola University, Baltimore, MD.
