As Sr. Rebecca (Becky) Nolan, Pittsburgh, PA, celebrates 50 years as a Dominican, she also marks 50 years of health care ministry. "At the age of ten, I watched my mother care for my grandmother, who was dying from cancer," Sr. Rebecca said. "I decided that I wanted to be a Sister and a nurse and help people who were suffering." She chose to become a Sister with a promise that she could study nursing. She received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Capital University, Columbus, OH, and a Master of Science in Nursing Administration and Education from New York University. Currently Sr. Rebecca manages the Pittsburgh Mercy Parish Nurse and Health Ministry program, sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy of Pittsburgh, PA. Prior to that, she was the Director of Mount Carmel Health System’s Church Partnerships Program (Columbus, OH).
"My life is filled with gratitude," Sr. Rebecca said, "gratitude to my family and friends, my Community, all the wonderful people I have met along the way, and a huge ‘thank you’ to my God, who has been with me through it all. It has been my sacred privilege to journey with all the people for whom I have cared and whom I have served."
