
Dominican Sister of Peace Agnes Imelda Frohnapfel, (100), of St. Joseph, WV, died on July 1 2023, at Mohun Health Care Center, Columbus, OH.
Agnes Imelda was born to Agatha (Haid) and Henry Frohnapfel in 1923. She entered the Dominican Sisters of Peace in 1941 and has spent her last 80 years professed.
Sr. Agnes Imelda earned a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from the College of St. Mary of the Springs, now Ohio Dominican University, and her Master’s Degree in Accounting from the Catholic University of America.
She taught in schools in New York, Pennsylvania, and in the Columbus Diocese. She served on the Congregational Staff as Assistant Finance Officer for the Dominican Sisters of Peace for a number of years.
Reflecting on her teaching experience, Sr. Anges Imelda said, “I enjoyed being with the youth and young adults, and I took great joy in seeing them develop into mature, successful, and responsible people.”
Agnes Imelda was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Agatha Haid Frohnapfel, and her sister, Sister Wilhelmina Frohnapfel, OP. She is survived by several cousins and friends.
A Vigil of Remembrance Service and wake was held at the Dominican Sisters of Peace Motherhouse Chapel on July 5, 2023. The funeral liturgy was held at the Dominican Sisters of Peace Motherhouse Chapel on July 6, 2023, followed by burial at St. Joseph Cemetery by EGAN-RYAN FUNERAL HOME.
