Dominican Sister of Peace Ann Dominic Roach, OP (94), a native of Boston, Massachusetts, died on September 8, 2024, at Sansbury Care Center, St. Catharine, Kentucky. Sr. Ann Dominic was born to Margaret Hughes and James Roach. She entered the congregation in 1950 and made her Final Profession in 1953. She would have celebrated her 75th Jubilee in 2025.
Sr. Ann Dominic earned a Bachelor of Arts in English/Social Studies from Siena College, Memphis, TN; a Master of Science in Library Science from Spalding College, Louisville, KY; and a Master of Education in Supervision and Administration from Boston College, Chestnut Hill, MA.
She ministered as an educator for more than 25 years in New York, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Tennessee and Nebraska. In 1979, she served as a member of the Catholic School Office staff within the Archdiocese of Boston until she was elected to serve on the leadership team of the former Dominican Sisters of St. Catharine from 1980-1984. Afterward, she returned to the Archdiocese of Boston as the first female Superintendent of Catholic Schools, a role in which she excelled for thirteen years. Sr. Ann Dominic was renowned for her professional integrity and commitment to fostering personal growth.
In her letter to the Congregation, Sr. Pat Twohill fondly remembers Sr. Ann Dominic as a forward-thinker, always encouraging others to focus on the future and to accept their current realities.
Sr. Ann Dominic was survived by one brother, Richard J. Roach (Torrington, CT) and many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation took place on Wednesday, September 11, at the Sansbury Care Center Chapel. The Funeral followed on Thursday, September 12, at Sansbury Care Center Chapel. Burial is at the St. Catharine Motherhouse cemetery.
