Chief Justice John G. Roberts and Associate Members of the
United States Supreme Court
1 First Street, N.E.
Washington, D.C. 20543
Dear Chief Justice Roberts and Associate Justices of the Supreme Court:
We write to you once again as the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, the highest court of law in our country. We write with passion about our deep concern for the future of democracy in this country. We believe that if you, the Supreme Court, do not begin to exercise your role in the checks and balances system in this country, we will all be living in a dictatorship, in tyranny for a very long time.
When you became a justice on the Supreme Court, you took an oath of office. You solemnly swore to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; to bear true faith and allegiance to the same; to take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and to faithfully discharge the duties of the office. We truly believe you have failed the citizens of this country. You have determined that presidential immunity from criminal prosecution presumptively extends to all of a president’s official acts with absolute immunity for official acts within an exclusive presidential authority that Congress cannot control. We do not understand and cannot support that what happened on January 6th was an “official act” of the President of the United States. It was insurrection, domestic terrorism and contrary to what we believe this country was called to be.
You have unleashed, we believe, a President from any responsibility for tyranny, chaos, dictatorship, and revenge. He has caused a rift in the citizens of this country, has been allowed to tear down other presidents, threaten those who are not loyal to him, and change laws heretofore made by the Congress of the United States. We believe you are not doing your job to be the judicial checks and balances of this country.
What this has also opened for the citizens of this country is the “right” of an unelected person, Elon Musk, to change decisions made by Congress, access personal information on citizens of this nation, and make a mockery of the rule of law in this country. Our President gave Elon Musk the right to trash federal agencies. He came into this country on an EB-5 visa, as an investor. Elon Musk became a citizen of this country in a way that people fleeing persecution are never entitled to or given the chance to prove.
At the United Nations in February, the United States took the side of Russia in the war against Ukraine. The once leader of the Free World has become allied with countries ruled by dictators. Our President has shown he does not support Ukraine’s territorial integrity or that of Canada, the Gulf of Mexico or Greenland.
Once again, we urge you to work toward a Code of Ethics for the Supreme Court. We urge you to do your work of providing checks and balances in this country. History will judge you as an upholder and friend of our constitutional Republic or as its foe. You must be the Supreme Court of and for this whole country and not allow yourselves to become President Trump’s court. If you do not provide the checks and balances we so need now, you will be held responsible for our headlong dash into dictatorship.
The results of the 2020 election were proven to have been fair and just. The behavior of the President on January 6th was criminal. His treatment of people who have tried to uphold the rule of law is unconscionable. His flaunting of his own will without regard for the decisions of Congress, the judiciary and without respect for the people in this country or leaders of other nations makes this country not great, but small, incapable of leadership in justice for all.
Our country has a Government Accountability Office established in 1921. That office has faithfully carried out its duties to work together with all branches of our government. President Trump has set up an office (DOGE) which has no accountability to anyone except to the President.
We believe no branch of our present government is living up to the oaths its members took. We urge you to look at the oath you took and to uphold the Constitution.
Sincerely,
And all the undersigned Dominican Sisters and Associates of Peace at St. Catharine, Kentucky

This is precisely what I want the Supreme Court to hear. Every word is the truth.
Thank you for expressing what so many of us need to be said.
Why can all of us not copy and send this excellent letter to the justices of the Surpeme Court. In numbers they might listen. Thus the Sisters and Associates from Columbus?
I agree with all three previous comments. This letter is excellent, and I am grateful for your working to save our democracy!
Peace!

Brilliant, courageous, historically accurate, and written with appropriate urgency for the common good of our nation, and by extension, for democracy wherever it is valued and needed.,,,,
Peace, Kay Mahady,
Trump is a cold hearted, mean spirited. hate filled man. I cry every time I see what he is doing to the immigrants. He has closed USAID, various health organizations, and scientific research which will cost millions of lives. I pray that people will vote for senators and congress men and women who will vote against his horrific policies. God bless you for speaking out.
