Before the start of the 2026–2027 school year, teacher, staff and other personnel at St. Mary's Dominican High School in New Orleans gathered for a day of retreat, reflection, and renewal rooted in the Dominican pillar of Prayer.

The day began with Mass celebrated by Fr. Patrick Carr of St. Rita Parish, with alumna Lorraine Hess ’86 serving as music accompanist. Sr. Carol Davis, OP, oa member of the leadership of the Dominican Sisters of Peace, led the retreat, inviting everyone to reflect on the question: Who is Jesus to me?
