Six St. Mary’s Dominican High School Students Commended In the 2016 National Merit Scholarship Program

The National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) has recognized six St. Mary’s Dominican High School students for Commendation. Commended students are Raeghan DeCuir, Sage Ducoing, Madison French, Kayla Goudeau, Yaseen Khan and Laura Youngblood.

They are among the estimated 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation that are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although Commended Students will not continue in the competition for National Merit® Scholarship awards, they placed among the top five percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2016 competition by taking the 2014 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.


Since 1860, St. Mary’s Dominican High School has been a leader of Catholic education in the New Orleans region. The school’s 155-year legacy is rooted in the tradition of prayer, study, community and service. These are the pillars of Dominican life and form the foundation for the Dominican student’s experience.
