Emmaus Discernment Group
Like exercise and study groups, discernment can be better and easier when you are not alone. In this program, you will meet other women on the discernment journey and some Dominican Sisters of Peace. You will also learn more about religious life in our monthly online video chat via Zoom. Each interactive session focuses on a specific topic suggested by the women in discernment. A sampling of topics include:
+ discernment
+ community living
+ prayer
+ relationship with God
+ maintaining relationships with family and friends after entering religious life.
Sisters from our Congregation join us to share their experience and wisdom during these sessions.
The benefits of sharing and learning in a group about religious life are many. These monthly calls help you build relationships and community with fellow discerners and Sisters.
Two Sisters who participated in both a prayer and discernment group found these experiences helpful in discerning their call to religious life. Sr. JoAnn Hohenbrink, OP, (left) and Sr. Diane Kozlowski, OP, (right) comment below on what helped them to identify whether their vocation was really God’s call to religious life.
Sr. Diane shared: “I don’t know if I asked for a sign, but I did have a lot of conversation. I talked with friends, I talked with Sisters who were in the community, and I prayed with a prayer group that I was a part of.”
Sr. JoAnn said: “I talked to Sr. Diane [Kozlowski] because Diane and I were at the university at the same time, a year apart. Diane and I were in a group together, where young women talked about the possibility of vocations, and how to be part of a broader group, and how God is in our lives.”
Please see our Upcoming Discernment Events page for dates and topics for this group’s meeting schedule.
