I am with you.
I am with you.
These words are worth repeating to remind us that we are never alone. Sit with these words. Let them wash over you. Hear God speaking these words to you, “I will be with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9). Take a moment to let these words permeate through you as you hear these words sung by the Monks of Weston Priory by clicking here.
In the popular Footprints Prayer, we are also affirmed of God always being with us:
“The Lord replied, "My precious, precious child. I love you, and I would never, never leave you during your times of trial and suffering. When you saw only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you.”
We can find comfort, encouragement, and strength in these simple and reassuring words for our lives. Trusting and having faith that God is with us helps us face the challenges in our lives. Helps us surrender our worries, knowing that in our “times of trial and suffering,” God carries us.
There are often moments in our lives, where we can be the one who speaks these words, “I am with you.” Whether spoken or heard, these words make a difference. They offer hope when we are living through difficult times. They also sustain us in our relationships with each other. In Dionne Warwick’s song, That’s What Friends Are For, she repeatedly sings this verse that speaks to the power of friendship and being there for each other:
Keep smilin', keep shinin'
Knowing you can always count on me for sure
That's what friends are for
For good times and bad times
I'll be on your side forever more
That's what friends are for

As we trust in the message that God promises to always be with us, we are also called to likewise be there for each other. In the words of St. Teresa of Avila’s prayer, Christ Has No Body, we are reminded of our calling to be the hands, the eyes, and the feet with which Christ blesses all the world.
If you believe that you are called to be the hands, the eyes, and the feet with which Christ blesses all the world as a religious sister, we invite you to take the first step to discern this call. We walk with you on this journey and invite you to contact us to start your journey. Even better, join us at our next Come and See Discernment retreat, September 13-15, 2024 at our Motherhouse in Saint Catharine, Kentucky. Click here for more information.
Hear God’s words to you again: I am with you. I am with you. Always.
