Dominican Sister of Peace Mary de Montfort Schexnaydre, OP, died at Mohun Health Care Center (Columbus, OH) on Monday, August 24, 2015. She was born in 1930 in Burnside, LA, and in 1951 entered the Dominican Sisters of St. Mary in New Orleans, now the Dominican Sisters of Peace. She was preceded in death by her parents, Berthil and Edith Brou Schexnaydre along with six brothers: Nolte, Berthil, Jr., Earl, Clyde, Kenneth, and Lyle and four sisters: Edith Bourg, and spouse, Toby Bourg, Bianca, Elaine and Kathleen; a niece, Lynette Allen Robert and a nephew, Tab Andrew Schexnaydre, a sister-in-law, Barbara Schexnaydre and a brother-in-law, Ruffin LeBlanc. Sister is survived by a sister, Ione S. LeBlanc; brothers, Vernon “Coon” Schexnayder and Dayton Schexnaydre and spouse, Lady Schexnaydre. Continue reading →

Dominican Sister of Peace Tomasa Sigala, OP, died at Mohun Health Care Center, Columbus, OH, on July 25 , 2015.
Born December 10, 1931, in Rocky Ford, CO, Sr. Tomasa was the daughter of Ramon and Ysidra Gonzales Sigala. She entered the Dominican Sisters’ Community in Great Bend on August 30, 1956, and pronounced her first vows June 13, 1959. She celebrated 50 years of religious profession in 2009. Continue reading →
Sr. Siena Ward, OP, died at the age of 85 on Friday, July 3, 2015, at Regina Health Center, Richfield, OH. She was born to Edward and Sarah Lilly Ward of Youngstown, OH. She graduated from Our Lady of the Elms High School in 1948, entered the Sisters of St. Dominic of Akron, now Dominican Sisters of Peace, on August 24, 1947, and made religious profession on June 20, 1949. Sr. Siena was in her 66th year of religious profession. She earned her BSE from St. John College, Cleveland in 1959. In 1980, she became certified in Clinical Pastoral Education from St. Louis, MO. Dominican Sister of Peace Theresina Greenwell, OP, died at the age of 92 on July 1, 2015, at Sansbury Care Center in St. Catharine, KY.
Sr. Theresina earned a BA in History and English from Spalding College (Louisville, KY), and two master’s degrees – one in Sociology from Catholic University of America (Washington, DC), and one in Religious Studies from Spalding University (Louisville, KY).
Dominican Sister of Peace Anaiceta Pitstick, OP, died at Mohun Health Care Center, Columbus, OH, on July 4, 2015. She was born in 1919 in Jamestown, OH, and in 1936 entered the congregation of St. Mary of the Springs, now the Dominican Sisters of Peace. Continue reading →
