Ministry of Welcome Receives Grant from Catholic Foundation

The Ministry of Welcome of the Dominican Sisters of Peace has been blessed by a generous grant from the Columbus Catholic Foundation to support religious vocations in the Diocese of Columbus.

The Ministry of Welcome presents a variety of virtual and in-person programming to help women discern and answer their call to consecrated religious life.

"Every person hears the voice of God in her or his own way, and own time," says Sr. June Fitzgerald, a vocations minister for the Dominican Sisters of Peace. "But it can be difficult to hear - and sometimes to accept - a call to religious life. It's our role to encourage and foster vocations to Dominican life and help women who hear the call of God find their religious home."

The grant is designated to support efforts in underserved portions of the Columbus Diocese, which spans more than 20 counties and serves more than 300,000 Catholics.

The Dominican Sisters currently have 8 women in formation from a multitude of cultures including a novice Sister from Zimbabwe and two First Professed Sisters from Vietnam.
